Important Features of a Library Website

A library's website must have a section dedicated to fines and fees, which will be good for the customers who may not know the fees or fines they may have to pay.

Another section that the library must have is a search bar that allows the customer to search through their catalogue.

Or a search bar that will search the website for them.

There must be a FAQs section which would help customers with any questions that they may have; with contact details so that the customer can contact the library with any further enquries.

There should be a calendar which tells events that the library is going to have, whether it be in the coming weeks or the coming months.

A language selection tool, to help those whose English isn't so good or those who cannot speak English at all.

Library hours should be included.

Web Page Design - Competency Task 1

Moonee Valley Library - This is a good website; it allows the User to easily navigate through the libraries online resources. They inform you about membership, fines, fees and also about upcoming events and programs that the library has. They also explain why the library is good for children and adolescents, and have two sections specifically for them.

Wyndham Library Services - This library's website has the option to have your say in the library's future.  The site also covers some other websites that branch out from Wyndham City. The site also allows you to search to library's catalogue, login and checkout books. However the website is hard to navigate and it is hard to find the actual website for the library that isn't attached to the council's website.

Hobsons Bay Library - This library's website is great because it is easy to navigate and has no problems (bugs) with it at all, that I have found. They have Youtube videos that instruct the customer how to use their services within the library. Their website also informs the customer of the fees they may have to pay to use thier services, and fees for fines that the customer may get.

Victoria State Library - The Victoria State Library is a good site for information on the library itself and has a "Ask A Librarian" section and though easy to use I felt that there was just too many things on the pages. Things I didn't like about this website is that it feels very cluttered as they try to fill absolutely all of the space on the page, where as some of the more simpler designs felt more affective when it came to figuring out how to use the website.

Monash University Library - Monash's website is easy to use and has information for Students, Teachers, Visitors, Researchers and more. They have the opening hours of all of thier branches, which is good for people who need to know when their local branches would be open.

I'm Going Bananas

I'm going bananas and I feel like my poor little mind is being devoured by piranhas, for I'm going bananas.

Social Media: Facebook

I don't write very interesting posts on Facebook... mainly song lyrics and rants about well... stuff...

It's almost an obsession but I won't let it overcome me.

Because I am strong. Like an Amazon Warrior...

Be strong like the knights of old,

About Me or The Likes of Sir Kyle

What am I going to type, I'm not sure. I think I'll just post my thoughts. Right now, I'm thinking of Cheesecake... mmmm cheesecake.

On a serious note, things I like include Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My favourite story from Doctor Who is one called "Fury From The Deep" but unfortunately it no longer exists in its entirety. Only stills and small fragmented clips exist from it as the BBC wiped it in order to continue making more programs during the 60s and early 70s.

My favourite episode of Buffy is "Once More, With Feeling" as everybody sings and dances due to a demon named Sweet arriving in the town and bringing the "Curse" of Song and Dance to everyone.

Another of my favourite shots is Quatermass. The four Quatermass serials are brilliant and it is easy to see how they influenced television to this very day, and it is often considered the spiritual predecessor of "Doctor Who"... though Nigel Kneale hated the show (Doctor Who that is, not Quatermass). Nigel Kneale was the creator of Quatermass.

I love to read books of all genres... yes that includes Romance.... haha. I've read the Twilight novels and think their attrocious. But that's only my opinion, if you like them I won't judge, that's not what I'm here to do. And besides everybody has their own tastes.

My taste in music is diverse. I love everything from classical compositions by Mozart, Beethoven and Bach to modern pop music by icons such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga.

I also love the Beatles, and I have my Uncle to thank for that. Although he believes that any music produced after the Beatles is complete and utter trash.... he refuses to listen to anything modern.

I love to collected Vinyl Records and have a small collection already, but it constantly continues to grow.
